Course Aim

This course is designed to give candidates the understanding of the appointed persons responsibilities and how to fulfill them.  This course is suitable for candidates who will be responsible for the planning of lifting operations using mobile cranes.

Teaching methods include:
   • Theoretical training and test
   • Practical training and test

​

Additional Information

Candidates must have suffcient experience of cranes to meet the requirements specifed in the  British Standards 7121 Safe Use of Cranes.
Candidates will be profled before the course start date to ensure they have suitable experience to attend.

  • Observe regulations and Codes of Practice

  • Follow safe systems of work including method statements

  • Take personal responsibility

  • Describe different types of cranes and associated terminology

  • Understand crane documentation

  • Understand crane stability, duty charts and safety devices

  • Appreciate tower cranes

  • Observe British Standard 7121

  • Recognise the role of appointed persons

  • Plan a lift
